Ws time flies - while the cycle of the popular FIFA 21 is drawing to a close, fans are already eagerly awaiting the new installment of the series from developer Electronic Arts. The globally acclaimed FIFA ULTIMATE TEAM (FUT) game mode in particular is causing the greatest anticipation among gamers. The mode offers an interesting combination of manager or career mode and exciting pack opening. EA has once again come up with something new for the latest installment: The so-called HEROES are the new playing cards in the ULTIMATE TEAM game mode. In this article, we explain what exactly the new hero cards are all about, which players are available to you with the new card type and how you can obtain the new cards.
What is FUT?
For all those who have been living under a rock for the past 12 years or are new to the FIFA series, we would like to briefly summarize the FIFA ULTIMATE TEAM game mode and its special features. In addition to tournament and career mode, FIFA ULTIMATE TEAM (FUT) has been one of the game modes within the FIFA series since FIFA 09. FUT is particularly popular among fans, as there are many ways to put together your own dream team. This is done using the cards that represent the respective players. You can buy or sell the player cards on the transfer market or obtain them by opening the so-called packs - which, with a bit of luck, may also contain special card variants of the players. In addition to the standard bronze, silver and gold variants, these include "Player of the Day", "Champions League", "Future Star" or the ICON cards, which usually bring a significant improvement in the player's dribbling, shooting power, running speed etc. and also score with visual benefits. The special IKONEN cards also allow you to integrate stars of the past such as Franz Beckenbauer, Diego Maradona or Zinédine Zidane into your dream team. The ICONS are available in three variants, each symbolizing different phases of the player's career. Just like all other player cards, you can obtain heroes in player packs, on the transfer market or as part of special challenges.
When will FIFA 22 be released?
The official release date for the new edition of the series is October 1, 2021, when FIFA 22 will be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. As an EA Play subscriber, you can try out the game for a full ten hours in Early Access from September 22. The full version will be available to Ultimate Edition buyers four days earlier - from September 27.
